A school bus?
![]() 05/10/2016 at 20:32 |

It’s $150.
Also it turns out virtually no one will insure a 19 year old with a school bus.

The owner appears to be named DAAAAAAN

Why A Bus?
![]() 05/10/2016 at 20:35 |
|
That’s the same style I’m looking at. It’s $150.
![]() 05/10/2016 at 20:37 |
|
And I think you need a CDL.
![]() 05/10/2016 at 20:37 |
|
Not if it’s a personal vehicle.
![]() 05/10/2016 at 20:39 |
|
But also why would you buy a school bus? :P
![]() 05/10/2016 at 20:40 |
|
To scrap. And hoon. But ultimately scrap. Or sell at a profit.

What Do You Plan To Do With A $150 Bus?
![]() 05/10/2016 at 20:41 |
|
$150? LeMons that shit. That is my Le Mons dream
![]() 05/10/2016 at 20:43 |
|
Does it run?
![]() 05/10/2016 at 20:44 |
|
I know it has a key and is visually complete.
![]() 05/10/2016 at 20:45 |
|
Dat COE tho.
![]() 05/10/2016 at 20:45 |
|
For $150, I’d say take a chance and buy it without getting a carfax. What’s a VIN check going to tell you? It’s probably worth that much in scrap.
![]() 05/10/2016 at 20:45 |
|
Where is it?
![]() 05/10/2016 at 20:47 |
|
Yeah, I’m looking at just buying it for scrap now and not actually trying to drive it. Insurance looks like it’s going to be a problem.

Watauga County.
![]() 05/10/2016 at 20:47 |
|
Only if you get caught.
![]() 05/10/2016 at 20:49 |
|
Well. That’s a drive. Are all of the buses $150?
![]() 05/10/2016 at 20:50 |
|
A good 15 of them. Online it says they’re just shells, but I went to the lot and they’re all complete.
![]() 05/10/2016 at 20:52 |

Damn, that extended greenhouse doesn’t look good. At all.
![]() 05/10/2016 at 20:53 |
|
It’s not that buried.
![]() 05/10/2016 at 20:53 |
|
This is enticing. Is there a website? Are they all former Watauga County buses?

Not what I meant, should have been more clear. Look at the bus body (drivers area) vs the “normal” one.
Larger greenhouse (OP) pushes the windshield to the hood and adds that extra side glass. Bus aesthetics are important lol.

That Nissan is horrible, but the bus is cool.

![]() 05/10/2016 at 21:06 |

Agreed on all counts
![]() 05/10/2016 at 21:06 |

I think the cab over has better visibility. Important when kids are involved.

Another option on what to do with a school bus:
![]() 05/10/2016 at 21:08 |
|
Buy it. Gut it. The possibilities from there are endless!
![]() 05/10/2016 at 21:11 |

I do have a second campus parking pass for the summer. But insurance is prohibitive.
College is not the best time in life to own a school bus.
![]() 05/10/2016 at 21:12 |
|
True, but that’s what the rear engine buses are for. :)
![]() 05/10/2016 at 21:13 |

The thing I like about U.S. School buses is that swing arm on the front to stop kids walking in front of the bus. I’d use to not before the kids got off the bus but when I saw a kid about to walk in front of the bus, also I’d use it at crossings to pi55 off some pedestrians. ;)
![]() 05/10/2016 at 21:14 |

That is awesome!
![]() 05/10/2016 at 21:16 |

Where is this? How can I get in on some of this? A school maintenance truck would be an amazing beater for a few hundred bucks.

Nice, an International 3600 with a Thomas Built Vista body!
Do you know if it’s a DT466E or a T444E?

There are some fantastic and insane school bus conversions out there. Every now and then I contemplate buying a cheap one and converting it into an RV/race tow and support rig. I’m just worried about how well it can really handle a full day on the highway driving to/from the race, and what its top speed is.

Watauga has like 12 “shells” that are sold as is for $150 each.

Even as a “personal vehicle” if it’s over a certain gross vehicle weight, you’ll have one hell of a time getting insurance. You’ll also need an air brakes endorsement on your licence
![]() 05/10/2016 at 22:17 |
|
Depending on the state, not if you register it as an RV. Which is no problem at all in my state of Maine. I had an aunt and uncle who used to haul themselves and my cousins from NE to ME every summer in a blue school bus.
![]() 05/10/2016 at 22:35 |
|
What a socialist place! In Canada, if it has air brakes, you need the endorsement to drive it :P
![]() 05/10/2016 at 23:04 |

False. College is the perfect time to own a
party
school bus.

OR BOTH:
Yes this is my beast.
